Scottie Pippen is making history with cryptocurrency.
He announced on X/Twitter that he would be tokenizing the 1991 NBA championship ball on the blockchain, just days after posting about an “exciting” new project in the works.
Here’s what he wrote on Monday: “Big things coming to Blockchain! It’s a secret for now, but I’ll send a private link to 10 people who retweet this. Stay tuned!”

Thirty-three years ago, it was Pippen with the ball in his hands when the Chicago Bulls beat the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5 of the 1991 NBA Finals, the first of six championships the Bulls would win in an eight-year span during the 1990s.
Years later, Pippen is using history in a new way.
Pippen is a huge supporter of cryptocurrencies. In 2022, he started his own non-fungible token (NFT) collection. After the collection sold out, he took to Twitter to thank his followers:

Recently, Pippen discussed cryptocurrency issues with his social media followers. He started a debate on which blockchain to invest in, Ethereum or Solana. His response garnered over 5,000 comments.
Prior to the announcement, MicroStrategy co-founder Michael Steyer responded to Pippen on X/Twitter with advice on investing in Bitcoin.
Pippen has set up a website and an X/Twitter page for his new ball project.
