Thanks to the power of virtual reality, getting into the cockpit of your dream car is now easily achievable, and these VR racing games are some of the best out there. Whether you want to relax or race to the finish line, be sure to check these out.
Best VR Racing & Driving Games – List
Below are my picks for the best VR racing games, regardless of what console you play on: The market for console VR experiences is still growing, so PC players have plenty of options to choose from.
American Truck Simulator (PC)

Now, before you throw all my credibility out the window, hear me out. It may not be a traditional VR “racing” game, but American Truck Simulator is one of the most relaxing games I’ve ever played. All you do is build up your business while hauling big cargo from one place to the next in America. Somehow it’s even more fun in VR, so I definitely recommend giving it a try before you drag me behind this giant metal monster for this choice.
Dirt Rally 2.0 (PC)

I’ve spent a lot of time with the Dirt series, and Dirt Rally 2.0 has to be one of the most exciting VR experiences to date. Getting behind the wheel of classic and modern rally cars and racing through beautifully rendered races is heart-pounding and breathtaking. It’s one of the most immersive simulators I’ve tried, and it works incredibly well when you’re behind the wheel for the ultimate racing experience.
Project CARS 2 (PC)

The licensing rights for Project CARS 2 may have expired, but you can still get a key for this thrilling VR racing game. This game is one of the most immersive games in virtual reality, with beautifully rendered tracks, amazing physics, and countless cars to spend an afternoon in. It’s a shame that Project CARS 3 turned out this way; this should have been on the list instead.
Assetto Corsa (PC)

Assetto Corsa has only just been released, but it’s already one of the most popular VR racing games of all time for a variety of reasons: its excellent physics engine rivals the classics, its impressive modding community is constantly churning out new tracks and scenarios to race on, and its VR capabilities are among the best in the industry. Grab a few buddies, blast through the highways of Japan, and have a great boys’ night out.
CarX Drift Racing Online (PC)

Whether you’re into the drift subculture or just want to have fun and dazzle your friends, CarX Drift Racing Online is one of the best VR racing games. Sure, it’s a little more arcade-like than simulator fans might want, but once you’ve strapped on a VR headset and gotten behind the wheel of your favorite PC, your mood may change completely. Get ready to show off your skills, because it’s an amazing adventure through an exciting culture.
F1 24 (PC)

Formula 1 may be the final frontier for racing fans, but it’s also one of the most exciting races you can experience in VR. Getting behind the wheel of these fearsome cars in F1 24 is one of the most thrilling things you can experience, and taking corners at breakneck speed and overtaking your opponents has never felt better. However, if you’re prone to motion sickness, you might want to add this game to your wishlist; it’s very fast and can cause stomach upset.
Mini Motor Racing X (PC)

Remember playing with Hot Wheels as a kid? Mini Motor Racing X might be the closest thing to a Hot Wheels simulator on the market, letting you race arcade-style in virtual reality against a variety of other slick rides. Plus, with flat and split-screen multiplayer options, you can challenge your friends to see who’s the best racer of all time in standard and mini game race modes.
Automobilista 2 (PC)

Racing around a track is another simulator, but Automobilista 2 is probably one of the best. With a huge selection of vehicles to choose from, from go-karts to supercars, you’ll never want to put your headset down. Not only is the level of cars incredible, but the VR support is phenomenal too. Whatever VR racing game you want to try, this is a great option.
Gran Turismo 7 (PS5/PSVR 2)

There’s a reason Gran Turismo has lasted so long, spanning seven installments, and the latest instalment could be its best yet. With near-photorealistic visuals that push the PlayStation 5 to its limits, fantastic VR support, and plenty of additional updates for new cars and tracks, this game could be any motorhead’s dream come true.
KartCraft (PC)

Want to get behind the wheel of a super-powerful go-kart and test your maneuverability? KartKraft is the experience for you. Paired with your favorite racing wheel, you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of the action as you expertly maneuver through turns and corners, and overtake countless other players in a race to the finish line.
There are tons of great VR racing experiences out there, but these are my picks for the best – give them a try, have fun, and try to win!
