Just months before Apple releases its Vision Pro headset in early 2024, Meta (formerly Facebook) has announced its new Meta Quest 3 virtual reality (VR) headset.
The device was announced at the company’s Meta Connect event last September and is currently available at online retailers including Amazon, Best Buy and Target, as well as being on sale during Prime Day.

Meta Quest 3 Mixed Reality Headset
The lowest price ever
The Meta Quest 3 offer comes with a VR headset, two Touch Plus controllers, and a free digital copy of Asgard’s Wrath 2, an action VR role-playing game (RPG) that normally retails for $60. (Got a Meta Quest 2? Carrying cases, comfortable head straps, and other accessories are on sale now during Amazon Prime Day.)
It’s powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip (an evolution from the Gen 1 in the Quest 2), which delivers more detailed and smoother graphics than its predecessor, and the Infinite Display in the headset (two 4K+ LCD displays, one for each eye) delivers jaw-dropping visuals. The brand says the speakers in the new headset are also 40% louder, delivering clearer, richer 3D audio with deeper bass.
Additionally, the newly designed Touch Plus controllers offer even more precise navigation and tracking, and better haptic feedback than previous models, making the experience feel more immersive and authentic. (The new controllers also don’t have rings.) Meta also says that Quest 3 offers a controller-free experience with its Direct Touch feature that follows hand gestures, and the headset’s slimmer design is more comfortable to wear.
Normally priced at $500, the Meta Quest 3 comes in a 128GB model that offers a mixed reality experience that blends virtual images with your real-world environment. For extra storage, the Meta Quest 3 comes in a 512GB model for $650. It has the same features as the headset above, but as a bonus, it also comes with a 6-month Meta Quest+ subscription (a $48 value, or $8 per month).
Meta/Best Buy
The service includes two handpicked VR titles each month (12 in total) across gaming, entertainment, wellness, fitness and social, and the Meta Quest library offers over 500 experiential apps to choose from, including YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
In fact, NBCUniversal has inked a deal with Meta to bring Peacock to its VR headset series on Meta Quest, which will include everything the streaming service has to offer, from Sunday Night Football, The Office, Poker Face, Yellowstone, Suits, The Continent: The World of John Wick, to Astroid City, Fast-X, and more. Just in time for Halloween, there will also be horror movies and TV shows from Blumhouse Productions and Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions.
Meta acquired Oculus, the original maker of the Quest VR headset, in 2014.
