The PSVR 2 has had its biggest sale yet, dropping the price by 37% with less than two weeks left until the release of the PC VR adapter.
The PSVR 2 launches in early 2023 with a base price of $550. The headset was dropped to $450 in a sale earlier this year, and there’s an even better deal on it right now.
The PSVR 2 is currently on sale on Amazon US (and a few other Amazon regions) for $350, which is a 37% discount off the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.
The Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle, which includes the headset and the best game ever made for it, is also on sale for $400, a 33% discount.
This sale is described as a “limited time sale,” so there’s no telling how long it will last.
The headset’s biggest sale yet comes just under two weeks before Sony launches its PC VR adapter, which will let you play games from the vast library of SteamVR content directly on your PSVR 2 (though you’ll need a powerful gaming PC).
The adapter will be available from August 7th, priced at $60 / €60 / £50, and will be available to buy from selected retailers and direct.playstation.com.
Sony has long resisted calls for a PC VR adapter for its original PSVR headset, so it came as quite a surprise when the company announced plans for a PC VR adapter for the PSVR 2 earlier this year. With a retail price of $350, the PSVR 2 looks like a compelling PC VR headset, given its build quality, resolution, inside-out tracking, and high-quality controllers.
Admittedly, there are some caveats that limit the headset when used with PC compared to its native home on the PS5: Sony says that when playing on PC, the adapter won’t offer HDR, in-headset haptics, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, or haptic feedback beyond basic vibration, though you’ll get the native 2,000 x 2,040 per-eye resolution, 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, and pass-through view.
