Brazen Blaze is a unique VR fighting game that has just released on Quest and PC VR, while Chess Club, Ironlights and Battle Talent have also received exciting updates.
Long-time Road to VR readers may remember our “Oculus Rift News Bits” article from over 10 years ago, which was a collection of small bits of news about the Oculus Rift (as there wasn’t much else happening to cover at the time) that we felt were worth sharing, even if they didn’t warrant a full article each.
Today we’re bringing this idea back with “XR News Bits.” XR has grown immeasurably compared to years ago, and an incredible amount of exciting XR news reaches us every day. Noteworthy suggestions frequently land on our desks, but we don’t always have the space to write full articles about every single one of them. XR News Bits is a new, occasional roundup of stories that we think are noteworthy, even if we can’t go into detail.
Chess Club update brings mixed reality mode and permanent price cut
Odders Lab, the Spanish developer behind popular XR titles such as OhShape and Les Mills XR Bodycombat, has released a mixed reality update for its Quest game Chess Club on World Chess Day. To make the game more accessible, Odders Lab is permanently reducing the price from $15 to $10. Chess enthusiasts can look forward to experiencing the classic game in a whole new dimension.

VR melee combat game Iron Light returns with surprise update
For those who want to get up close and personal but gauntlets aren’t their thing, Ironlite, the one-on-one VR dueling game, is back with its first major update since late 2021. The Gauntlet Update introduces a new single-player mode called Endless Gauntlet, where players face off against wave after wave of enemies relentlessly with no healing. The update also significantly expands customization options, adding over 30 new armors and helmets, plus 30 new armor materials. Ironlite and its new update are available on Quest and PC VR.
Battle Talent celebrates one year anniversary with multiplayer and mixed reality updates
If fighting games aren’t your thing, why not join forces with friends to battle the forces of evil instead? VR fighting game Battle Talent is celebrating its first anniversary with a major update. The highlight is a new cross-play multiplayer mode. The update introduces cooperative magic, weapon enchantments, and even item stealing between players. The update also includes a mixed reality mode with LAN support for local play. The developers have also improved combat feedback, effects, and UI elements. Battle Talent is available on Quest and PC VR.
