USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) Named Mobile’s 2024 Mardi Gras Ship
MOBILE, Alabama — The Mobile Council of the United States Navy League, the City of Mobile and the Alabama Ports Authority will soon welcome the 2024 Mardi Gras ship, the USS Donald Cook, to Mobile’s downtown waterfront.
The Navy ship, whose motto is “Faith Without Fear,” is scheduled to transit the Mobile Ship Channel just after dawn on Friday, February 9, and arrive at Alabama Port Authority Pier 2 at approximately 10 a.m. CST. Members of the media are invited to cover the ship’s arrival ceremony.
“The Alabama Ports Authority is honored to welcome the USS Donald Cook to the Port of Mobile for Mardi Gras 2024,” said Alabama Ports Authority President and CEO John Driscoll. “A longstanding partnership between the port, the city, the Navy and the Mobile Council of the Navy League, the arrival of this ship is a wonderful tradition for celebrants in the City of Mobile to enjoy.”
The USS Donald Cook is a multi-purpose destroyer designed to defend against and, if necessary, destroy enemies at sea, on land, in the air, beneath the waves and even in space.
