July 26, 2024 – DPVR, a Shanghai-based provider of virtual reality (VR) hardware and software solutions, recently announced a partnership with Canada Computers & Electronics, a leading PC hardware and tech services retailer with stores across Canada. Canadian customers can now purchase the DPVR E4 headset online or experience it in person at select stores in Ontario.
Two of the stores displaying demo units are showcasing the E4 headset paired with a racing cockpit, allowing customers to enjoy VR racing games such as Assetto Corsa and DiRT Rally. According to DPVR, with a 116° field of view (FoV) and 100% binocular overlap, the E4 offers a highly immersive experience without the screen door effect or motion sickness side effects.
Founded in 1991, Canada Computers is one of Canada’s leading retailers of computers, PC components and other consumer electronics. With a network of 42 locations across the country, registering the DPVR E4 headset with them will significantly expand DPVR’s consumer products in Canada, particularly for PC VR and sim racing enthusiasts.
The headset is available on the Canadian Computers & Electronics website for $799 CAD (plus tax), which DPVR says offers a “premium 4K 120Hz visual experience” at a more entry-level price. Additionally, the headset is SteamVR compatible, so users can use the E4 to play their favorite AAA titles and racing simulators within the Steam ecosystem.
Commenting on the partnership, Derek Liu, vice president of DPVR, said, “Partnering with Canada Computers significantly expands our reach and makes our headsets more accessible to local university students. Making cutting-edge technology into affordable, practical products has always been important to our engineering philosophy, which aligns with Canada Computers’ original vision. We believe the company’s extensive experience and strong network will be invaluable in supporting the tech community and enhancing consumer satisfaction.”
Here are some Canadian computer and electronics stores that have demo units of the E4 with a racing cockpit setup:
