The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Technology Transition recently launched the second round of the American-Made EnergyTech University Prize (EnergyTech UP), a challenging competition in which multidisciplinary student teams develop and present business plans leveraging high-potential energy technologies.
The Syracuse Center of Excellence (CoE) is again hosting the DOE’s EnergyTech UP innovation awards this year, which challenge student teams to identify an energy technology, evaluate its market potential and develop a commercialization strategy.
Student teams will have the opportunity to present their plans to a panel of industry judges and compete for a total prize pool of $370,000.
As part of a collaboration with NYSERDA and CenterState CEO’s Clean Tech Center, Syracuse CoE was selected as one of 15 EnergyTech UP regional conference partners. Syracuse is hosting a regional exploration event where students will have the opportunity to develop their leadership and entrepreneurial skills, as well as gain exposure to all the innovative energy technologies waiting to be commercialized.
Interested students and faculty are encouraged to follow EnergyTech UP to stay up to date on application deadlines and requirements, as well as prize rules. Prize administrators will host an informational webinar to share details about the $370,000 available to students, spark ideas about energy technology, and answer questions from potential participants. Register now for the webinar, which will be held on October 26 at 3:00 pm ET.
