Secure data analytics startup Opaque Systems Inc. today announced a new platform designed to run artificial intelligence workloads on encrypted data that protects machine learning pipelines.
The new “Confidential AI Platform,” announced at the second annual Confidential Computing Summit, supports machine learning pipelines as well as popular AI languages and frameworks such as Python and Spark. The platform enables enterprises to run a wide range of AI workloads, including SQL analytics and AI inference, on encrypted data without the need for re-engineering.
The platform seeks to address security and privacy concerns surrounding the implementation of generative AI. Opaque argues that corporate data is often locked up due to bureaucracy and compliance requirements, and that existing techniques such as anonymization are error-prone and insufficient for many companies.
Companies are being forced to choose between AI innovation and security, and many are left choosing security, preventing their AI projects from coming to fruition. This is where Opaque’s Confidential AI Platform can help.
“For too long, companies have had to choose between data security and extracting value from their data. With Opaque, we end this dichotomy,” said CEO Aaron Fulkerson. “Our platform ensures full data sovereignty while enabling seamless deployment of AI workloads to unlock business insights securely and efficiently, enabling the use of sensitive data that was previously unavailable.”
The capabilities released in the new platform expand Opaque’s existing services to facilitate secure collaboration with cryptographic verification of privacy. According to the company, these capabilities enable organizations across industries to unlock sensitive data, generate richer insights, and drive tangible business value by deploying AI workloads on encrypted data.
Confidential AI Platform can address use cases across a range of industries: High tech can secure data pipelines for analytics and machine learning workloads, maintain privacy, and enable dynamic model training on encrypted customer data, while financial services can benefit from secure data sharing and collaboration across business units and partners.
Manufacturers can use the platform to enforce data governance rules and maintain data policies, privacy, and sovereignty. For HR departments, the platform enables them to securely share and analyze employee data across silos to support recruiting, retention, compensation, and talent development while ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation.
