Themed “Mobile is always online, never disconnected”, the launch officially announced that China Telecom will utilize the capabilities of the Tiantong-1 satellite system to provide direct-dial satellite connection services to Hong Kong users. China Telecom will make Hong Kong the first station to launch the internationalized overseas operation service of Tiantong satellite, which marks a groundbreaking milestone for China’s satellite communications industry in the internationalization process.

Guests from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Hong Kong telecommunications operators, and industrial chain partners from various countries and regions around the world attended the launch and witnessed this important historical moment together. Mr. Chen Lidong, Director of the Emergency Communications Centre of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Yu Xiao, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association, and Mr. Tang Ke, Executive Vice President of China Telecommunications Group Co., Ltd. attended the launch and delivered speeches.

Direct-dial satellite connection will bring better and more convenient communication services to Hong Kong users. At the meeting, Yang Lingcai, general manager of China Telecom’s satellite communications division, introduced the construction and operation of the Tiantong-1 satellite system, the remarkable progress in the past few years in innovation leadership and persistence in the world’s first direct-to-telephone satellite connection business, and the latest progress in promoting the transformation of scientific and technological innovation achievements and the continuous expansion of “Tiantong S+” products. With this release, Hong Kong users can enjoy integrated satellite communications services without changing SIM cards or numbers, fully meeting users’ needs in satellite mobile communications.
