Path towards Space Technology Policy in India:
The Government of India has introduced the Indian Space Policy, 2023, to enable full participation of non-governmental organisations in all aspects of the space sector. To support this engagement, the Department of Space has established the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), a one-stop nodal agency for all space sector activities of non-governmental organisations and for granting clearances and permissions for space launches.
Similarly, the Telangana government has launched the Space Technology Framework Policy, 2022. The policy aims to provide access to infrastructure, promote skill development and training, and foster research in the space sector in the state.
Recently, Tamil Nadu too announced the launch of policies focusing on space tech, deep tech and circular economy to drive innovation and support deep tech startups.
Outlines for the upcoming BTS 2024 were announced, continuing the theme of the event as “Breaking Boundaries”, highlighting how technology transcends traditional sector, national, cultural and industry boundaries. BTS 2024’s multi-stage conference will feature IT & Deep Tech, Biotech & Healthtech, Startup Ecosystem, Global Innovation Alliance, India-US Tech Conclave and the newly added Electro-Semicon track.
“Karnataka has become home to leading technology companies, GCC and top unicorns. This success stems not only from the state’s industry-friendly policies and programs but also from active engagement and collaboration across the tech ecosystem. We also value our close association with our Global Innovation Alliance partners and together, BTS attracts the world’s foremost leaders, innovators and disruptors, bringing together over 50,000 tech enthusiasts from India and over 40 countries,” said Kharge.
