Government opens applications for Western Australian startups to take part in Sydney SXSW mission The mission will take place from 14-18 October It is an opportunity for all Western Australian founders at the startup or scale-up stage to take part
Ten lucky local startup founders will have the opportunity to attend the 2024 SXSW Sydney conference, thanks to funding from the Cook Government.
Minister for Innovation and Digital Economy Stephen Dawson opened applications for start-ups to send special delegations to the conference through the State Government’s New Industry Fund.
Founded in Austin, Texas in 1987, SXSW brings together creators and entrepreneurs from around the world to meet, learn, share ideas, and foster collaboration and innovation.
Taking place from October 14-18, the Sydney mission will include select delegate engagement opportunities during SXSW Sydney Week and a pre-departure kick-off.
The initiative follows a successful mission to SXSW in Austin in February, which brought together more than 20 Western Australian delegates representing a range of sectors including energy transition, advanced technology and innovation, health and medical life sciences, creative and cultural industries and Indigenous entrepreneurship.
Applications are open to all founders at start-up or scale-up stage who are registered in Western Australia. Regional, female founders and Indigenous entrepreneurs are welcome to apply.
The Sydney Mission is led by West Tech Fest in collaboration with Creative Tech Village.
The application deadline is August 9, 2024.
