From June 26 to 28, 2024, Taiwanese startup leaders visited the Philippines as part of a three-day Taiwan-Philippines Startup Exchange Program co-hosted by the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO) and QBO Innovation Hub, and supported by CrossBond and Startup Terrace. The visiting startups included ChiaTang Info. Co. Ltd., Turing Chain, ChoozMo, Zignet, and Crypto-Arsenal, startups involved in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), AI, Web3, and Blockchain.
Accenture Philippines Innovation Hub Tour
On June 26, 2024, the delegation toured the Accenture Philippines Innovation Hub, guided by Innovation Lead Arvin Yason. The tour showcased advancements in VR/XR solutions, blockchain technology, smart city technology, IoT solutions, space tech innovations and quantum computing. The event concluded with a presentation of generative AI products at the new GenAI Studio, highlighting Accenture’s commitment to technological advancements.

On June 27, the delegation visited the Ateneo de Manila University, where they began with a sustainability walk showcasing the university’s environmental conservation activities, followed by a keynote speech and panel discussion on the Philippine business and investment environment. Engineer Maria Concepcion S. Zabala of IPOPHL and Joel Emmanuel C. Sampaico of QC LGU spoke, providing insights on intellectual property and supporting local businesses.

Later in the day, experts such as Dr. Roberto Martin N. Galan, Mr. Jeramiel Cheng, and Mr. Rolando Bengzon discussed the market potential and funding opportunities for Taiwanese startups in the Philippines. After the discussion, the startups presented their businesses to a panel of judges that included Mr. Ray Alimurung, Engineer Benjamin Mirasol, and Ms. Phoebe Fontanilla. The event highlighted the importance of international collaboration and market entry strategies.

On the final day, June 28, the participants paid a courtesy visit to Taiwan Ambassador Wallace Min-Gwan Chou at the Taiwan Embassy, where the startups introduced their businesses and explored market opportunities in the Philippines.
Overall, the exchange program not only fostered valuable insights and networking opportunities, but also reminded the participants of the importance of Taiwan-Philippines cooperation in driving innovation and economic growth. By fostering these international ties, the two countries can look forward to common technological advancements and business ventures in the future.
