With an increasingly wide range of career pathways relying on mastering advanced skills involving complex data analysis, URI’s College of Environmental and Life Sciences has launched a program aimed at making students more competitive in the job market by developing these skills in a flexible environment.
The new Graduate Certificate in Econometrics and Data Analytics offers students and professionals the opportunity to hone their expertise in econometrics, data processing, database management and coding skills. Through this three-course, 12-credit program, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of statistical and machine learning methods and learn how to apply them to real-world problems. Graduates will be able to apply advanced econometric and machine learning methods to economic and financial problems, with broad applications in fields such as public policy, economic development, environmental and natural resource management, agriculture, energy and political science.
The only certificate of its kind in the New England region, the program is designed to fit the schedules of working professionals. Enrolled students can choose to complete the course fully online or with in-person classes. Students who choose the online option can work asynchronously without suffering from a lack of support. Among other resources, there are live virtual office hours that students can attend. Whether online or in-person, courses are taught by expert faculty from URI’s Department of Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, highly regarded for their pioneering academic research and contributions to the development of key regional, national, and international policies.
Admission requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. For more information and to apply, please visit our website or contact the Graduate Programs Director at enre_grad@etal.uri.edu. The application deadline is August 15, 2024.
