Read More Hyderabad: Tesla CEO Elon Musk is set to fly to India over the weekend to finalise plans for major EV investments, but he also seems to have potential opportunities in mind for his space venture SpaceX and Starlink.
Musk, who will arrive in India on April 21, is scheduled to meet founders of India’s pioneering space technology startups and companies at Bharat Mandapam on April 22.
He will also meet Hyderabad-based space technology companies such as Skyroot Aerospace and Dhruva Space, as well as Bengaluru-based startups such as Pixel, Digantara and Satsure, and Chennai-based Agnikul Cosmos and Galaxeye Space.
According to sources, Musk’s meeting, which is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has also invited companies that manufacture critical systems and subsystems for the space sector, including Hyderabad-based Anant Technologies and Astra Microwave, Bangalore-based Astrom Technologies and Centum Electronics.
It has been learned that the heads of these private space technology companies had been invited by the National Space Propulsion and Authorisation Centre (InSpace), an independent agency under the Indian Ministry of Space, to show their companies’ technologies and products to American entrepreneurs.
“We have been invited to showcase India’s space capabilities to Musk. We are planning to have an exhibition and I have heard the prime minister might also be involved,” said the founder of a space technology company.
