Bandai Namco announced late last year that it was partnering with XR studio Atlus V (Gloom Eyes, BATTLESCAR) to release a Mobile Suit Gundam game for the Quest, due for release this fall, and now we have a clearer picture of what to expect, as the studio has revealed a new story trailer for the “full-length” VR anime.
Atlas V has unveiled a trailer for Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom, featuring some behind-the-scenes information.
“Argent Cale is an unofficial mercenary organization that does not belong to either the Earth Federation or Zeon. You are the protagonist. Carry out assassination orders. Pursue the Phantom from the past to the future. Your story begins now,” the trailer states, interweaving 3D and 2D animated scenes.
The original article, including the trailer that was first released last month, is below.
As announced during UploadVR’s Summer Showcase today, Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom is officially coming to Quest this fall, with some mixed reality gameplay elements revealed in a new trailer. According to UploadVR, the mixed reality portion of the game will include the ability to engage in combat in your living room using mobile suits featured in the main storyline, as well as exclusive suits “designed specifically for this immersive experience.”
The new trailer follows on top of the original article which contains all other extant information about the game.
Original article (March 21, 2024): Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom is being marketed as a “virtual reality interactive movie” and is said to offer fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Gundam series in new ways and with an all-new storyline.
When the project was announced late last year, the studio was scarce on details, but it has now been revealed that the story will be set in the year 0096 and will include space combat scenes.
Now, just in time for the upcoming anime consumer show Anime Japan in Tokyo, a new teaser for Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom (link above) has been released.
If you’re interested in learning a little more, Bandai Namco Filmworks and Altus V also released a behind-the-scenes video at SXSW 2024 last week, offering a quick glimpse at storyboards and character designs.
In the meantime, the release date for Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom on Quest is still completely shrouded in mystery, so we’ll just have to wait for further announcements, but the studio has said that a Quest store page will be live soon, and that the game will be available to add to your wishlist.
