Mediaproxy is now focused on media data aggregation and orchestration through an expanded technology partnership with Skyline Communications, developer of the DataMiner transformation platform.
Both manufacturers will be demonstrating how the two systems can be integrated and explaining what they can offer their joint customers at their respective booths during IBC 2024. The integration between LogServer and DataMiner began in 2017, but was API-based and focused primarily on the Skyline system’s data collection control panel.
A closer, more formal collaboration began about a year and a half ago, when Mediaproxy and Skyline engineering teams began working together to improve connectivity between the two companies’ products. The goal was to improve the integration between LogServer and DataMiner, as well as to make the process of using and accessing data resulting from interactions between the two systems smoother.
DataMiner is a data acquisition, control and orchestration platform with a wide range of real-time monitoring and analytics capabilities, as well as artificial intelligence capabilities such as forecasting, anomaly detection and automated incident tracking. DataMiner cloud services enhance DataMiner stack capabilities to provide secure dashboards and data sharing with external users, remote access or direct integration into Microsoft Teams. Vendor-, protocol- and technology-agnostic, DataMiner’s data and control plane creates a digital twin of your entire infrastructure and operations.
In this way, DataMiner has access to information collected and recorded by LogServer, such as which programs and commercials were broadcast on a particular network. By aggregating this information, broadcasters can have a complete picture of what is being transmitted and where it is being viewed.
The integration was first demonstrated at the NAB Show in Las Vegas in April and will also be a key part of both Mediaproxy (stand 5.D72) and Skyline Communications (stand 1.A57) exhibits at IBC 2024 in Amsterdam. “We demonstrated a showcase application at the NAB Show and will do so again at IBC,” explains Thomas Gunkel, Global Market Director Broadcast at Skyline Communications. “The aim is to show users real-world use cases using the connectors already in place and an easy-to-create, highly customizable data consumption layer built on top of it. This layer can analyze (SCTE) triggers in the stream and filter information about the state of the media being transmitted.”
Erik Otto, CEO of Mediaproxy, commented, “Mediaproxy and Skyline Communications have had a technology relationship for some time, but only formalized their collaboration over the past year or so. This partnership will bring our companies closer together and will also lead to further integration with third-party products. Our demo at the NAB show showcased how LogServer and DataMiner currently work together, and at IBC we hope to show the latest developments in this exciting ongoing collaboration.”
