NEW DELHI: Jio Platforms is expanding its reach in the Indian automotive market and has partnered with Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company MediaTek for its foray into the two-wheeler technology platform market.
MediaTek and Jio Platforms subsidiary JioThings on Thursday jointly launched their home-grown Internet of Things (IoT) platform for the electric two-wheeler market, which will offer smart digital clusters and smart modules.
“Jio Things is pleased to collaborate with MediaTek through our 4G Smart Android Digital Cluster, App Suite and Smart Module solutions for the mobility industry,” said Kiran Thomas, president and CEO, Jio Platforms.
MediaTek was also bullish on the new venture: “This cluster is aligned with our vision for the future of smart dashboards for two-wheelers,” said Jerry Yu, senior vice president and general manager of the company’s Intelligent Devices Business Group.
The companies say the smart digital cluster and operating system will enable features such as real-time data analytics, customizable interfaces, voice recognition to control IoT-enabled charging infrastructure and a smart battery management system.
The platform will provide 2W EV users with access to the ‘Jio Automotive App Suite’, which includes services such as Jio Voice Assistant, JioSaavn, JioPages and JioXploR.
CK Wang, general manager of MediaTek’s IoT business unit, said the solution, developed in collaboration with JioThings, will use MediaTek chipsets and IoT technology.
