Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation, India’s largest fertilizer company, has used the Agmatix platform to reduce the time it takes to collect, verify, and analyze agricultural data by 70%, from six months to less than one month. Agmatix field testing software and data analytics systems enable Deepak to detect and prevent errors in product development testing, resulting in high-quality efficacy data from the more than 1,500 tests conducted annually through the platform.
Previously, agronomists used pen-and-paper field notebooks to manually enter multiple parameters for each crop trial and each of the 25 sites. This time-consuming method carried a high risk of data loss and input errors. Agmatix’s data collector for agricultural trials dramatically reduced inaccuracies by collecting mobile data instantly. The digital notebook allows images, notes and videos to be uploaded along with collection location data and timestamps, and all data is securely stored in the cloud.
“Prior to implementing Agmatix’s solution, it took months to manually collect agronomist data, which delayed business presentations. Now, the platform processes it instantly, allowing me to focus on other tasks,” says Deepak, Senior Manager R&D Projects and Data Lead. “We tried other platforms but they didn’t suit our needs. Agmatix Trial Management fit seamlessly into our existing IT systems and the team worked closely with me to make customized changes to perfectly suit our requirements.”
“Agricultural input companies face increasing pressure to maximize efficiency and production with limited resources. Digitalization is key to becoming more competitive, enabling them to move more quickly from product testing and development to registration and sale,” said Ron Baruchi, CEO of Agmatix. “By implementing our technology, companies like Deepak are advancing sustainable agriculture, delivering increased yields by continually developing products in smarter, more efficient ways, contributing to global food security.”
Deepak conducts 1,500 product development trials per year through its in-house research center, partnerships with universities, and with local farmers. After the trials are completed, local farmers are able to store and sell the crops. These trials cover 24 major crops, including tomatoes, sugarcane, wheat, soybeans, coffee, and tea. Managed by a team of 60 agronomists, the Agmatix platform helps manage the workforce by assigning and tracking tasks.
