IBM has made Mistral Large’s advanced large-scale language models (LLMs) available on the IBM watsonx.ai enterprise tools platform for AI developers, expanding the collection of models accessible on watsonx.ai.
According to IBM, with Mistral AI, watsonx.ai users get generative AI models optimized to handle complex enterprise tasks that require advanced reasoning and multilingual capabilities. This includes specializations in Search Augmented Generation (RAG) to support longer chat interactions and large-scale document processing, function invocation for connecting to external tools such as user-defined functions, and coding capabilities for code generation and commenting that can output results in JSON format. It also provides support for “responsible AI” with built-in guardrail capabilities, and multilingual capabilities fluent in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.
IBM announced on July 18 that Mistral Large will initially be offered as SaaS. Mistral Large joins a collection of models accessible on watson.ai, including the IBM Granite family of foundational models. Mistral AI and IBM continue to foster innovation and collaboration by offering companies a mix of open source and commercial models, as well as access to smaller models on watsonx.ai, which prioritizes data control, IBM said. IBM will provide customers with protection for Mistral Large through capped intellectual property indemnification, making Mistral Large the first third-party foundational model to receive IBM indemnification. With Mistral Large added to the watsonx platform, companies will benefit from additional enterprise-ready offerings, including data store, prompt lab, model tuning, production monitoring and governance capabilities, IBM said.
