Gateway Community & Technical College students can now earn credit for completing courses through Code:You, a free software development program offered in 90 counties across northern, eastern and southern Kentucky, as well as parts of southern Ohio and Indiana.
“Code:You provides high-quality training in a variety of programming disciplines, and this partnership with Gateway is proof of that. We’re excited that our students will be able to receive credit for their coursework at Gateway,” said Brian Luerman, Program Director at Code:You.

Code:You participants can earn credits for various courses in Gateway’s Computer Information Technology (CIT) program as they complete training modules in web development, data analytics and software development. Current and future Gateway students can earn these credits at no additional cost and can earn up to six credits for each course completed.
Code:You is run by KentuckianaWorks, the Louisville area’s workforce development board, in partnership with the Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD).
the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, the Bluegrass Workforce Innovation Commission, and Shaping the Appalachian Region (SOAR).
“Our goal is to connect people to good jobs with family-sustaining wages and benefits — and technical jobs are often ‘good jobs.’ We’re excited to partner with Code:You and Gateway Community & Technical College to provide this high-quality technical training to individuals,” said Correy Eimer, NKADD’s associate director of workforce development.
“This will not only impact individuals who enrol in training and gain qualifications, but it will also have a positive impact on employers as it helps fill entry-level technical roles.”
“We are excited to partner with Code:You and award college credit in recognition of students’ efforts. We know there are many paths to a tech career, and we are here for people in our community who want to take the next step towards a better life,” said Dr. Chris Rickels, dean of Business, IT and Professional Studies at Gateway Community & Technical College.
Code:You training is open to adults 18 years of age or older who hold a high school diploma or GED and reside in eligible counties. Applicants must be interested in starting a technology-related career within the next six months and have a strong drive and enthusiasm to learn advanced technology skills.
