British Columbia recently selected immigrants from a variety of occupations. The province invited at least 77 people to apply for the Provincial Nominee Program, which was held through a lottery on May 7.
A special lottery for technical jobs invited 41 people with technical skills or who had studied technical subjects, who needed at least 120 points to qualify. Another 11 were invited to work in childcare, who needed at least 90 points to qualify. Twelve were invited as construction workers, who needed 93 points to qualify.
Healthcare workers also received 12 invitations; they needed at least 100 points. Finally, veterinary care workers received fewer than five invitations; they needed 80 points. The exact number of invitations to veterinary workers has not been revealed to protect the identities of those invited.
