California-based pharmaceutical company BioMarin Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: BMRN) announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved an expanded indication for Brineura (cerliponase alfa).
This approval expands the approved use of Brineura to include children of all ages with neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis type 2 (CLN2 disease), regardless of symptoms.
Previously, Brineura was approved to treat symptomatic children aged 3 years and older with late-infantile CLN2 disease.
