Will there be more information coming out of Samsung’s Galaxy AI?
Ahead of the next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, attention is focused on what updates Samsung will bring to its suite of artificial intelligence features, Galaxy AI. With the likes of Google (and its Gemini model) and Apple (Apple Intelligence) rolling out big updates in recent weeks, Samsung is struggling to differentiate itself from the pack. Reports suggest that Samsung may roll out live translation features to third-party apps such as WhatsApp. Earlier this month, the company also announced that Galaxy AI will be free to use on supported Samsung Galaxy devices until the end of 2025. Apart from Galaxy AI, Samsung is also set to unveil its wearable Galaxy Ring and next-generation Fold and Flip devices on July 10.
New model for creating 3D assets in Meta
Earlier this month, Meta announced a new AI system that can create high-quality 3D assets from text prompts in under 60 seconds. Meta researchers explained in a research paper that the 3DGen system works on two technology components developed for text-to-3D and text-to-texture generation: Meta 3D AssetGen and Meta 3D TextureGen. According to Meta’s research paper, 3DGen provides 3D asset creation with high-fidelity prompts and high-quality 3D shapes and textures in under a minute. It also supports physically-based rendering. The new AI system could be useful in areas such as video game development and augmented and virtual reality applications.

Tools for analyzing tabular data
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) researchers have developed a new generative AI tool that helps users easily analyze tabular data. According to an MIT news release, the GenSQL tool allows users to make predictions, detect anomalies, infer missing values, correct errors, and generate synthetic data with just a few keystrokes. The new tool is built on Structured Query Language (SQL), a programming language for data management introduced in 1974. The researchers found that GenSQL is faster and more accurate than other AI-based data analysis tools, according to the news release.
