WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Dell Technologies and Purdue University have reached an agreement to create the Alienware Purdue Gaming Lounge, which will be one of the largest dedicated collegiate gaming venues in the country.
The 2,000-square-foot space, located within the France A. Cordoba Recreational Sports Center to support Purdue’s competitive and casual gaming initiatives, will be equipped with premium gaming equipment from Alienware. The lounge is scheduled to open in August 2024.
“We are honored to enter into this unique partnership with Dell Technologies, a company that plays a pivotal role in the global technology industry, and are excited to deploy cutting-edge Alienware gaming technology,” said Ian Hyatt, Purdue University’s Chief Information Officer. “The University strives to meet the academic needs and personal interests of our students. This lounge will serve as a resource for students to gather with friends and enjoy gaming within the community, while also aligning with Purdue’s overarching commitment to leveraging cutting-edge computing technology across all areas of interest.”
In addition to casual gaming, the lounge will provide an elite gaming space where students can train and compete at the highest level of esports using best-in-class equipment. Purdue is home to numerous esports and gaming organizations, making this a unique attraction for prospective students.
